ADHD and autism questions
Explore screening, overlapping needs and DTC’s private clinical partner pathways for ADHD, autism and AuDHD.
Open a question to read the answer. General guidance helps you explore your options; it cannot diagnose an individual.
Is there a free ADHD or autism test?
DTC’s free neurodiversity screener explores overlapping experiences linked to attention, autistic traits and dyslexia. It can help you decide what to discuss, but cannot diagnose ADHD or autism. Clinical assessment is a separate route.
Link to this questionWhat is included in paid neurodiversity screening?
DTC currently lists screening with a 20-minute assessor consultation at £149 including VAT, and enhanced screening with a 45-minute session and selected learning/processing tasks at £299 including VAT. Check the linked page before booking. Neither option is a diagnostic assessment.
Link to this questionCan I be assessed for ADHD and autism together?
Yes. DTC can arrange a combined AuDHD assessment through its private clinical partner. The team explains the pathway and required information before referral, with practical support available afterwards.
Link to this questionWho diagnoses ADHD and autism through DTC?
Clinical ADHD, autism and combined AuDHD assessment and diagnosis are provided through DTC’s private clinical partner pathway. DTC helps explain the options and can support educational, workplace and aftercare next steps.
Link to this questionWhat signs of autism can I explore?
DTC’s clinical autism pathway explores communication, sensory experiences, routines and developmental history. Watch the autism video linked below and note what you would like to discuss with the team. A list of signs cannot tell you whether you are autistic.
Link to this questionWhat signs of ADHD can I explore?
DTC’s clinical ADHD pathway looks at attention, activity and impulsivity across everyday life. Its linked ADHD video offers a starting point for discussion. Screening and general information do not replace a clinical assessment.
Link to this questionCan autism or ADHD be missed in women and girls?
DTC’s clinical pathway makes space for masking, compensating and difficulties recognised later in life. You can discuss the wider picture, including dyslexia and overlapping ADHD/autism traits, rather than relying on one checklist.
Link to this questionHow much does an ADHD or autism assessment cost at DTC?
Ask DTC for the current fee and what is included in the private clinical partner pathway. The prices on the screening page are for screening, not clinical diagnosis. Confirm the assessment, feedback and any follow-up arrangements before booking.
Link to this questionHow long is the wait for an ADHD or autism assessment?
Ask DTC about current availability for its private clinical partner pathway and your chosen assessment. Confirm the appointment and report timings before committing; the guide does not have live appointment availability.
Link to this questionDoes DTC offer NHS Right to Choose assessments?
The DTC page reviewed describes a private clinical partner pathway. It does not establish an NHS Right to Choose route. Ask the team and your GP about your intended referral and funding route before booking; do not assume a private booking is NHS-funded.
Link to this questionAm I autistic? What does ASD mean?
Autistic adults may experience differences in social communication, sensory experiences, routines or interests. Some people adapt or mask these differences, so they may not be obvious to others. Each person’s experience is different; recognising some signs does not confirm autism.
Consider examples from daily life and earlier experiences. You can speak to your GP about assessment or ask DTC about its private clinical autism pathway. The DTC video below is a starting point, not a diagnostic test.
ASD stands for autism spectrum disorder, a term used in clinical diagnosis.
Link to this questionCould I have ADHD?
ADHD can involve lasting difficulties with attention, organisation or impulsivity, and some people experience restlessness. Not everyone is visibly hyperactive. Similar difficulties can have other explanations, so a checklist cannot establish a diagnosis.
Keep examples of how these experiences affect daily life, including earlier experiences, and discuss them with a GP or qualified specialist. DTC can explain its private clinical ADHD pathway and screening options. Screening and cognitive profiling are different from clinical diagnosis.
Link to this questionDoes DTC have information about ADHD and autism assessments?
The ND Pathways page lists ADHD, autism and combined assessment routes. The team can explain who provides each service, its scope and current availability. This guide cannot identify either condition.
Link to this questionIs there support after an ADHD or autism diagnosis?
DTC’s pathway page describes learning needs support for people who already have a diagnosis and want to understand its impact on studying or work. Personal recommendations require a conversation with the team.
Link to this questionWhat does neurodiversity mean?
Neurodiversity describes variation in how people think, learn and process information. DTC’s workplace page discusses differences including dyslexia, ADHD and autism. People have individual strengths and support needs.
Link to this questionDoes everyone have the same neurodivergent profile?
No. DTC’s resources page stresses that each person’s profile is individual. A general list of signs cannot explain a particular person’s experiences or establish a diagnosis.
Link to this questionWhat is AuDHD? Can I have both autism and ADHD?
AuDHD is an informal term used for co-occurring autism and ADHD. A person can have both, and the combination can affect how their strengths and support needs are experienced. An online quiz cannot determine whether you have either condition.
DTC can discuss a combined autism and ADHD assessment through its private clinical partner. Ask about suitability, the assessment process and support afterwards.
