Study and workplace support
Questions about university, DSA, workplace assessments, referrals and practical support.
Open a question to read the answer. General guidance helps you explore your options; it cannot diagnose an individual.
How can DTC help me at university?
DTC’s student route combines assessment options, practical study skills and DSA guidance. You can discuss reading, essay structure, note-taking, workload and deadlines. Your university confirms its support arrangements and evidence requirements.
Link to this questionWhat workplace support can an assessment recommend?
DTC’s specialist workplace partner can explore reading, written communication, processing, memory, attention, organisation and sensory needs in the person’s actual role. Findings can inform conversations about tools and working practices to trial; they do not guarantee a particular adjustment.
Link to this questionCan DTC help with Access to Work?
An assessment can describe functional needs and practical recommendations that complement an Access to Work process. Access to Work and the employer make their own eligibility, funding and adjustment decisions. DTC cannot guarantee a grant.
Link to this questionCan an employer refer someone to DTC?
DTC works with employer, occupational-health, insurer and education referral enquiries. Describe the role, barriers and questions an assessment should explore. A workplace needs assessment is provided by its specialist partner; use of a diagnostic report requires the individual’s consent.
Link to this questionCan my assessment help with Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)?
An assessment report can inform a DSA application. Eligibility and required evidence are confirmed through the relevant student-funding process; a report does not guarantee funding.
Link to this questionCould my work colleague be dyslexic, autistic or have ADHD?
DTC’s workplace resources focus on understanding different ways of thinking and helping people use their strengths. They cover dyslexia, ADHD and autism, with guidance for managers and teams.
Use the workplace resources below to start a conversation about support, rather than deciding on a label for your colleague. DTC also offers a consultation to discuss workplace questions. Keep your colleague’s private information out of this guide.
Link to this questionHow do I ask about study or apprenticeship support?
Contact DTC to discuss the assessment or support information you need. Your university, training provider or relevant funding body must confirm its own evidence and eligibility requirements. This guide cannot promise funding or adjustments.
Link to this questionHow do I ask about work or insurance?
Contact the DTC team before choosing a service for a workplace or insurance enquiry. Ask your employer or insurer to confirm its requirements directly. This guide cannot confirm cover, resolve a dispute or guarantee that an assessment will be accepted.
Link to this questionWhat study difficulties can I discuss with DTC?
DTC’s student page mentions reading, organising written work, deadlines, note taking and focus. These are reasons someone might ask about learning support; they do not by themselves identify a condition.
Link to this questionCan DTC help students who already have a diagnosis?
The student page includes people who already have a diagnosis but are unsure how it relates to studying. The team can explain its learning needs and ongoing support services.
Link to this questionWhat workplace resources does DTC offer?
DTC’s workplace page introduces neurodiversity and information for managers supporting staff with dyslexia. It also provides a route to discuss further guidance with the team.
